Nearly half of all Jakartans may have had Covid-19, some 15 times the reported figure, according to a recent seroprevalence survey that suggests that many of the cases were asymptomatic.
THE University of Indonesia’s School of Public Health, the Eijkman Institute for Molecular Biology and the Jakarta administration conducted antibody tests on 4,919 people above the age of 1 from around 100 subdistricts of the capital’s five municipalities and the Thousand Islands regency from March 15 to 31.

Thousands turned back to stop Idul Fitri exodus in Indonesia

Despite the Indonesian government’s attempts to stop people from visiting their hometowns for Idul Fitri, resulting in tens of thousands of vehicles forced to make a U-turn at toll gates, some travellers have managed to find a way around the
mudik (exodus) ban.
National Police Traffic Corps (Korlantas) chief Inspector Geneneral Istiono said on May 8 evening that three days into the

JAKARTA (The Jakarta Post/ANN): While Indonesia plans to reopen to international tourists in the near future, medical policy failures, including the reuse of Covid-19 test kits and breaches of mandatory quarantine, have called the country’s preparation into question.
The government has established several travel rules in an effort to reduce CovidD-19 transmission risk.
Travellers must present negative results from either PCR or antigen tests, and people arriving from outside the country are required to quarantine at designated facilities for five days.

Indonesia gives Covid-19 vaccines to celebrities to convince public of safety

The Indonesian government has sought social media influencers and celebrities to take part in the country's first round of Covid-19 inoculations, alongside healthcare workers, military leaders and other representatives.
The country received its first shipment of the Chinese-made Sinovac vaccines on Dec. 6 last year, and started its vaccine drive on Jan. 13 with a big publicity push.
Government wanted to use influencers to persuade more people to receive the jab
Indonesia's senior health ministry official, Siti Nadia Tarmizi, said the government had made the decision to include influencers in the first round of shots in order to encourage Indonesians to go for their jabs,

'Influencers' to Get COVID-19 Vaccine FIRST in Indonesia

Social media influencers are among the first in line to get a COVID-19 vaccine in Indonesia.
The decision, which clumps the group with 1.5 million health workers, was a deliberate government communications strategy, senior health official Siti Nadia Tarmizi told Reuters.

On Wednesday, social influencer Raffi Ahmad sat alongside President Joko Widodo to receive his shot of CoronaVac, created by Chinese company Sinovac Biotech. The vaccine was deemed halal by Indonesia’s top Islamic council.
“Thank God I was among the first to be vaccinated today, with Jokowi [a nickname for Widodo]. Thank you for your trust. To my beloved Indonesia, let’s get vaccinated. No need to be afraid,” Raffi wrote in an Instagram post.

Coronavirus: As Widodo kicks off Indonesia's Sinovac vaccine drive, social media influencer Raffi Ahmad's shot backfires

As President Joko Widodo launched Indonesia’s Covid-19 vaccination drive on Wednesday (Jan 13), the televised images beamed into homes across the nation were rich in symbolism.
Here was the president of the world’s fourth most populous nation quite literally opening his arms to China as he received a shot of the Sinovac Biotech vaccine his government had approved for emergency use just a couple of days earlier.
This was the moment that the Southeast Asian country hit hardest by the novel coronavirus – having recorded nearly 850,000 cases and just short of 25,000 deaths in a little over a year – started its fight back against a global menace.

ISTANBUL: Nearly 1,000 Uyghurs rallied in Istanbul on Thursday as Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met his Turkish counterpart for talks expected to focus on coronavirus vaccines and the countries’ extradition treaty.
Wang also met privately with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan during a visit coinciding with a spike in new virus infections that follows an easing of restrictions at the start of the month.
