BREAKING: Senate Votes To Call Witnesses In Impeachment Trial

Well, that woke us up fast!
On what most of expected to be the ignominious day Donald Trump was acquitted for the second time of impeachment charges, we are now in a holding pattern, as the House Managers have requested to subpoena and depose Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler (R-WA). Rep. Herrera Beutler spoke out last night about having witnessed an expletive-laden phone call between House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy and Donald Trump during the insurrection, in which Trump seemed to know all about what was going on at the Capitol.
The trial began two hours earlier than scheduled, and Lead Manager Jamie Raskin requested that in light of Rep. Herrera Beutler's statements, the Managers would like to subpoena her notes from the phone call and depose her. Commence Trump's attorney Michael Van Der Veen sh*tting himself into an aneurism, threatening to depose Vice President Kamala Harris (though this time he didn't attempt to pronounce her first name) among other embarrassing displays.

No, DJT is NOT "furious" and "angry" with his defense team

Reports of an angry and furious Donald Trump over his legal team’s defense are more fake news. Yesterday, Fox correspondent Kevin Corke reported that wo anonymous sources described his fury. We held off posting the story because we figured it was fake like everything else that comes from these anonymous sources. The anons want to make DJT look like a lunatic 24/7.
“Two sources in fact, who spent time with the former president today described him as being quote, ‘furious and beyond angry’ with his impeachment defense team,” Fox News correspondent Kevin Corke reported. “He was especially upset with attorney Bruce Castro, as you pointed out for his quotes, rambling opening argument. The former president spending the day watching the trial from inside his private quarters at Mar-A-Lago, no golf with the very same plan for tomorrow.”

Supreme Court Justice John Roberts will not preside over a second impeachment trial for President Donald Trump, putting Democrat Senate Pro Tempore Patrick Leahy in charge of the proceedings. President Trump being a former president is the reason for the move.

It has been rumored Roberts would step aside should the Senate proceed with the impeachment process, despite President Trump no longer being in office. There was potential for former Senator and current Vice President Kamala Harris to oversee the process.

Sen. Lindsey Graham, a Republican from South Carolina, said he doesn’t think Republicans should agree to split impeachment trial days to also consider other legislative business, such as Covid-19 relief and confirming President Biden’s cabinet nominees, for the duration of the trial.
“We’re not going to split the day,” Graham said Friday. “At least I wouldn’t. That’s the business of the Senate, once we go into it, they’re choosing to do this. We’re going to do it the way we’ve always done it. We’ve never split the day.”
