'We don't like it and don't want it to happen' - Liverpool players uniformly oppose Super League

What's been said?
So far, Liverpool have not made any sort of announcement regarding their future in the Super League, even as several clubs look set to withdraw.
Club legend Dalglish, though, took to Twitter on Tuesday, urging his longtime club to make the right choice despite the difficult times.
"The last few days have been difficult for everyone who loves Liverpool Football Club," Dalglish said, "and I really hope we do the right thing."

'I feel responsible for the team' - Klopp insists he won't step away from Liverpool in wake of Super League announcement

What’s been said?
Speaking at his post-match press conference, Klopp insisted he would remain Liverpool manager as long as he was wanted.
Asked if he felt let down by Fenway Sports Group, the club’s owners, he said: “I don’t think that, I don’t feel that. I am 20 years in football, and a lot of times owners made decisions without asking me, and I deal with it. I don’t want to be involved in these things, I don’t understand them. I’m a football person. It’s not about letting me down.
“I’m here as a football coach and manager, and I will do that as long as people let me do that. I heard today that I will resign or whatever. If times get even tougher, that makes me even more sticky that I will stay here. I feel responsible for the team, responsible for the club and for the relationship we have with our fans. It’s a very tough time, but I will try to help to sort it somehow.”

'My opinion didn't change' - Liverpool boss Klopp reiterates opposition to Super League plans

"My feelings didn't change. My opinion didn't change," Klopp told
Sky Sports before his side faced Leeds on Monday. "I heard for the first time about it yesterday. I was trying to prepare for a difficult game.
"We got some information, not a lot. Most of the things in the newspapers. It's a tough one. People are not happy with it, I can understand it. I can't say a lot more because we were not involved in the process - not the players, not me - we didn't know about it. We will have to wait how it develops."
He added:  "I'm 53. Since I've been in professional football, the Champions League has been there. My aim was always to coach a team there. I have no issues with the Champions League.

Klopp: Finishing top four would make this season a success for Liverpool

What did Klopp have to say?
"I'm not sure how the people outside see that, [but] for us we can make this season still a success [by] qualifying for the Champions League," he said. "Because we won the league last year, that doesn't mean the only thing what is possible for us to be a success would be winning the league – that would be really mad.
"That's the problem why a lot of teams then get problems after winning something. We are not in that mood. We don't chase our own shadow or however you want to say that, and say, 'Oh my God, how can we get that good again?' No, no, no. We know about all the necessary steps and all these kind of things we have to do.

What next for Keita? Liverpool's £53m man facing uncertain future after Madrid humiliation

One can only imagine the reaction of some of Keita’s Liverpool team-mates, had they been confronted with the same situation.
Would Mohamed Salah or Sadio Mane have been able to conceal their disgust? Could James Milner or Trent Alexander-Arnold have taken Jurgen Klopp’s call in such calm, measured fashion?
No chance.
Keita had been a surprise starter in Madrid, to say the least, with Klopp gambling on the Guinea international’s wildcard qualities, his energy and dribbling prowess. His performances in training, the Reds boss said, had been impossible to ignore.
“He is in a really good moment, and brings special things in,” Klopp added.

European Super League: Carragher sickened by Liverpool's 'betrayal of heritage'

Carragher has added his voice to those criticising the teams involved, with the Reds legend telling
The Telegraph: "All I have heard from Liverpool this year is how much they have missed their fans.
"Funny how the voices on the Kop matter only when it is most convenient.
"The more I read about the European Super League proposals, the more it seems Liverpool’s owners must like empty stadiums because all they have done is raise the likelihood of another mass walkout.
"Liverpool’s game with Leeds on Monday night could not be better timed to expose the insanity of the closed-shop idea.

Liverpool boss Klopp gives Phillips 'best heading statistics in the history of the Premier League'

What has been said?
The Reds boss has said of a defender with 15 appearances to his name: "Nat Phillips is just an exceptional career so far, with all the things he did in the past and what he thought about and where he was and all these things.
"Now playing for Liverpool in the Champions League, Premier League, winning games, winning challenges.
"[He will have] probably the best heading statistics in the history of the Premier League I could imagine at least, it is unbelievable what the boy is doing there, and on top of that playing good football."
