Palmeiras held on to reach the Copa Libertadores final despite losing 2-0 to 10-man River Plate on Tuesday as the Argentines were twice denied by controversial VAR decisions.
River dominated the semi-final second leg at a empty Allianz Parque stadium in Sao Paulo, but goals from Robert Rojas, who was later dismissed, and Rafael Borre were not enough to overturn their 3-0 home defeat last week to the Brazilians, who progressed 3-2 on aggregate.

Milito's Racing revolution: How Argentina's 'model' club turned on its favourite son

A double Primera Division title winner with La Academia as a player in 2001 and 2014, Milito returned to Racing at the start of 2018 in a new role alongside freshly appointed coach Eduardo Coudet.
The handing out of such positions, be they as technical secretary, sporting director, director of football or the rather confusing (to English-speaking ears) 'manager' post is a common honour for club favourites, and often means little more than a popular buffer between irate fans and presidents when results take a turn for the worse.
Milito, however, applied to his job the same dedication, commitment and intelligence that served him so well on the pitch for the likes of Racing, Genoa and Inter, transforming the club both on the pitch and off it.

Moises Caicedo: Ecuador's part-Kante, part-Pogba wonderkid dreaming of Man Utd move

Three assists in November's two qualifiers followed for Caicedo, firmly establishing him as an indispensable part of an Ecuador side desperate to reclaim their place in the World Cup after missing out in the last two finals.
With almost two full seasons under his belt for Independiente del Valle despite only having only turned 19 at the start of November, Caicedo looks to have the world at its feet, standing out as one of the brightest hopes in an Ecuador side which has flattered to deceive for years since their last World Cup outing in Brazil.
A native of bustling Santo Domingo, located just over 100km from capital Quito, Caicedo grew up alongside his nine siblings in one of the city's more humble peripheral neighbourhoods.

Meet Gabriel Menino: The Brazilian Yaya Toure looking to step into Dani Alves' spot

ESPN of his first encounter with Gabriel.
“Menino came at the end of 2013 to trial as a centre-back and he was quickly approved. But I quickly changed his position, because he was good going forward and getting into the box. He marked well, like he does now, and he was strong for his age but not very tall.
“He got promoted to a higher age group and trained most of the year. He played 10 games, but was on the bench most of the time. We talked a lot, and I made him watch videos of Yaya Toure.”
With the Ivorian's example to follow, Gabriel never looked back.

'Two Boca players could pay for three teams here' - Cash-strapped Caracas eyeing Copa Libertadores miracle

It is no disservice to Venezuelan football to assert that, for all the strides made by the Vinotinto, especially at youth level over the last decade and a half, their impoverished clubs have failed to keep up.
Since Caracas last made the Copa knockout stages in 2009, battling through to the quarter-finals to match a national-best finish, just one Venezuelan side, Deportivo Tachira in 2016, has managed to escape the group phase.
There were signs from the start that the current campaign might prove memorable for Caracas.
At the beginning of March, the defending Venezuelan champions held mighty Boca Juniors to a 1-1 draw and were unlucky to fall to Libertad in Asuncion prior to the coronavirus-enforced suspension of the Libertadores.

Fans set fire to seats amid Chile protests

Chilean football fans set fire to seats, pelted police with missiles and vented their anger towards President Sebastian Pinera during a Copa Libertadores match at the National Stadium on Tuesday amid continuing social unrest in the country.
