announced his president, which david pecker met at trump tower with michael cohen, and donald trump, to find stories that may come out before the 2016 election, salacious ones like the ones of stormy daniels, purchased the stories and ensured their silence so that they never got to the public before the 2016 election. and then in 2017, that donald trump knowingly was reimbursing michael cohen for that $130,000 payment to stormy daniels. the prosecution made it clear they're going to have a litany of witnesses from stormy daniels to michael cohen himself. david pecker, he took the stand for just over 30 minutes. he is expected on the stand tomorrow. on the other hand, the defense laid it out in a different way. starting out right at the top with the declaration that donald trump committed no crime, and you may hear a salacious story from the likes of michael cohen and stormy daniels who donald trump's defense made clear that

think you even the same in the former president who went through a litany of issues that he often talks about just for complete clarity, there's no evidence that the the current president or the white house have anything to do with this current case that he's facing here in new york in the courtroom by me, evan, i want to go to you because i thought beyond this of them, we always hear from the form present what's most fascinating is what preceded that, which was a sandoval hearing where there was an argument over what could be brought into play. >> if the former president testifies, which gives you a good read on what is last year has been named checking judge kaplan? judge and cora judge motion why? well, he's got a lot of fiefs and so he's, he's going to name check every single one of those and literally as as this was happening putting just uptown, there was another hearing, an appeals court hearing, where a judge was hearing a request, a last-minute requests for a stay. again, they're trying to

what specifically in iowa? can you point to anyone thing? >> no, i think it's 100 things. i think if you talk to trump supporters, they will read you a litany of ways in which they are loyal to him. if you listen to him, they believe in his mission, that his idea of what a president should do, they align very strongly behind. they also share with him the concept that he's within targeted, and that he is being unfairly prosecuted, persecuted. and that only makes them stronger. the poll findings in december, the things that he says which people think are sometimes scary, in terms of talking about vermin, and about poisoning the blood. those things make a substantial portion of gop caucus goers more likely to support him. and that is a concept, i think outside of trump's circles, people have a hard time understanding.

CNN Republican Debate Des Moines Iowa

the guy that's going to be the guy to engineer a comeback. i appreciate what president trump did. let's be honest, he built a wall and have mexico pay for it. he did not deliver that. he said he was going to hold hillary accountable and he let her off the hook. he said he was going to eliminate the debt and added $7.8 trillion to the debt. so, we need to deliver and get this stuff done. i think the difference between nikki haley and me, i listened on that litany of stuff, you know, i debated the governor of california gavin newsom. i thought he lied a lot. man, nikki haley gives him a run for his money and may be more liberal than gavin newsom is. we are in a situation -- as republicans, you need somebody that is going to be in there and fight for you. and nikki haley, any time the going gets tough, any time people come down, she caves. when you need someone standing in to fight for you, don't look for nikki haley. you won't be able to find her if you had a search warrant.
