Numbers set to get PUP down 15,000 this week Updated / Monday, 12 Apr 2021 18:55 Business Editor The number of people due to receive the Pandemic Unemployment Payment (PUP) this week is down 15,776 on last week. 421,373 people will get a total of €125.52m in PUP payments. A further 183,096 were also on the Live Register at the end of March in receipt of other forms of unemployment assistance. The largest number of PUP recipients remains in Dublin, where 134,417 people are claiming the payment. 5.7% drop in numbers on Live Register and PUP

Economics Correspondent There was a reduction of 5.7% last month in the combined numbers of people on the Live Register and receiving the Pandemic Unemployment Payment (PUP).  According to the latest figures from the CSO, there were 617,441 people on both the Live Register and PUP last month.  The seasonally adjusted figure for the Live Register in March was 186,300, down 2,700 compared to February. In the last week in March, there were 443,247 people in receipt of the PUP. The numbers on the PUP are down 25,644 compared to February but up 49,274 compared to March of last year. This is the ...

Number of redundancies reported to the Government quadruples during pandemic

The number of redundancies flagged to the Government is now four times higher than before the Covid-19 crisis began. New figures show there were 970 potential redundancies notified to the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment last month. This compared with 212 in February last year. A total of 984 redundancies were notified in January, up from 233 in January last year.
