A new analysis carried out by the University of Manchester for the BBC has revealed that the death rate from coronavirus was highest in the North West, the region where some of the toughest lockdown restrictions have been in place the longest.
As part of the BBC’s Our Lives Series, our correspondent Victoria Gill spoke with friends from her home region about the toll the pandemic has taken on their lives and livelihoods.
