দুর্ঘটনার পর বেশ কিছু ক্ষণ কেটে গেলেও এখনও স্বাভাবিক হল না হাওড়া-বর্ধমান লাইনে রেল পরিষেবা। বুধবার রাতে লাইনচ্যুত হয়ে যাওয়া লোকাল ট্রেনের বগি দু’টিকে লাইন থেকে সরানোর কাজ চলছে।

পূর্ব রেল সূত্রে জানা গিয়েছে, প্রাথমিক তদন্তে ধরা পড়েছে, যান্ত্রিক কোনও গোলযোগের কারণে এই দুর্ঘটনা ঘটেনি। বরং প্রাথমিক ভাবে মনে করা হচ্ছে, সিগন্যাল না মেনে এগিয়ে যাওয়ার জেরে এই ঘটনা ঘটেছে।
The court convicted the accused under Indian Penal Code, section 307 (attempt to murder) and under the Railways Act, section 152 (maliciously hurting or attempting to hurt persons travelling by railway).
"Around 150-200 passengers were there in the train and all of them were safe. The fire was later extinguished," said Rajneesh Kumar, Divisional Railway Manager (DRM).
