June 03, 2021GILFORD — On Tuesday, May 25, the weather was just right for the girls' D-III State Championship meet. New this year was girls' and boy's teams competing on different days due to COVID-19. In order to compete at states, an athlete must qualify at a meet earlier in the season. Only two Spartan girls qualified this year, Abby Friedman and thrower Isis Kelm.
The highlight of the meet was when Friedman took the state championshipo in pole vault. clearing eight feet. Friedman placed third in the high jump, clearing four feet, 10 inches.
