Doksuri: China rains death toll rises to 78 as new storm approaches
Record-breaking rains have swept across northern China, causing the death of at least 78 people, according to state media. Around 29 people died in Hebei province after Storm Doksuri brought unprecedented rainfall. A further 33 people died in Beijing and more than a dozen in northern Jilin province. Scientists have warned that such extreme weather events are related to climate change. A new storm, Khanun, is approaching northern China, while heavy rain is also expected in the southwestern province of Sichuan and the northwestern provinces of Gansu and Qinghai over the weekend.
