Mega Millions - Single Ticket Takes Billion Dollar Jackpot

We were right, the Mega Millions fever would push the jackpot total over a billion dollars by the time the ping pong balls dropped last night. Lottery officials had posted an estimated jackpot amount of $970 million after there was no winner on Tuesday night. But the interest in becoming superrich in an instant drove the total over a billion dollars.
The Mega Millions website says a single ticket sold in Michigan can lay claim to the top prize in last night's game. The jackpot was the second-largest in the game's history.
While Louisiana's lottery players didn't take home the big prize we did have two $10,000 winners sold in the state. One was sold in New Orleans and the other was sold in New Iberia.

Powerball - Single Ticket Claims $731 Million Prize

The Powerball game has finally gotten a winner. After months of watching jackpots rise and rise the multi-state lottery game can finally payout on its top cash prize. According to the Powerball website, the single ticket that matched all the numbers necessary to claim the $731 million dollar prize was sold in Maryland.
Good for them.
That doesn't mean that if you bought a ticket in Louisiana that you need to toss it in the trash because there is a chance, not a great chance or even a good chance, but still a chance you could recoup some of your money if you played the game. The Louisiana Lottery website says that a ticket sold in Kenner matched enough of the Powerball numbers for last night's drawing to claim a $50,000 prize.
