In 2019, Galea and Conlon purchased an electroencephalogram (EEG) machine, a device that measures electrical activity in the brain, and began several months of self-experimentation.
The app relies on “sensory entrainment” to induce its effects. The light and sound sequences lead to a neural response, with test participants noting a reduction in sense of self while also experiencing highly coloured and vivid fractals, according to the company.
