Every single Oscar winner is available for home viewers to watch right now, including “Nomadland,” which won major prizes for best picture, best director and best actress, and has been streaming on Hulu for months. The big questions are where, how and how much: Some are exclusive to popular streaming services like Netflix, some are affordable rentals while a couple more recent releases are $19.99, and some can be streamed and bought but not rented while others can be rented but not bought. Sound confusing? The list of Oscar winners below will put you a click away from knowing all the options and discovering whether or not the Academy got it right.

Why Is It So Hard to Show Black Women's Musical Genius Onscreen?

Why Is It So Hard to Show Black Women’s Musical Genius Onscreen?
Oscar-nominated performances this season put the emphasis on the trauma, not the artistry, of Billie Holiday and Ma Rainey. The most insightful movie might just be “Soul.”

Oscar history has been made, again. For just the second time, two Black women — Viola Davis (“Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom”) and Andra Day (“The United States vs. Billie Holiday”) — are nominated for best actress in the same year. This last happened in 1973 when Cicely Tyson (“Sounder”) and Diana Ross (“Lady Sings the Blues”) were up for the Academy Award, only to lose out to Liza Minnelli for her starring role in “Cabaret.” While we do not know who will take home the gold statue on Sunday, it is undeniable that Davis and Day gave two of the most mesmerizing performances of the year.

Even at the best of times, making an award acceptance speech isn’t easy. It’s the most scrutinized moment of your career, you’re bound to forget the name of somebody you love, and you’re five feet from a trigger-happy orchestra that is trained to turn on you like a firing squad.

LONDON — “Nomadland,” Chloé Zhao’s film about a woman forced to join the rising numbers of Americans living out of vans as they search for work, was the big winner at the EE British Academy Film Awards in London on Sunday.
It was named best film at Britain’s equivalent of the Oscars, better known as the BAFTAs, beating the likes of Aaron Sorkin’s “The Trial of the Chicago 7” and the much-hyped “Promising Young Woman,” starring Carey Mulligan.

2021 Oscar nominations: Chadwick Boseman is posthumously nominated for 'Ma Rainey's Black Bottom'

LOS ANGELES -- Half a year after his death, Chadwick Boseman was posthumously nominated for an Academy Award on Monday for his final performance in "Ma Rainey's Black Bottom."
The nomination for best actor was widely expected but still historic. Boseman is the first Black performer ever nominated posthumously for an Oscar. He was nominated alongside Steven Yeun ("Minari"), Riz Ahmed ("Sound of Metal"), Anthony Hopkins ("The Father") and Gary Oldman ("Mank").
Only seven actors have previously been nominated after their death: Jeanne Eagels, James Dean, Spencer Tracy, Peter Finch, Ralph Richardson, Massimo Troisi and Heath Ledger. Two ultimately won: Finch for his performance in 1976's "Network" and Ledger for 2008's "The Dark Knight."
