More than 100 people have lost their lives in the ethnic violence between Meitei and Kuki communities in the northeastern state so far.
Police said the firing started after midnight at Sugnu Mamang Leikai. At least one person is reported to have been injured in the exchange of fire. Sugnu saw largescale violence, including firing incidents and burning of houses, on May 28.
Most of those injured are from the valley and one person is said to be critical. The injured are recuperating at Regional Institute of Medical Sciences, according to information.
Sources said the BJP central leadership summoned Singh to Delhi, taking into consideration the political developments in the aftermath of the clashes.
When asked about the looted weapons, Singh said they have recovered 284 weapons so far. “We have also found that some persons after committing the crime managed to cross the border. We are also trying to identify them,” he said.
