Toronto Maple Leafs' Jack Campbell: 'Pressure's fun,' aims to build on breakthrough season

TSN Toronto Reporter Mark Masters reports on the Maple Leafs, who practised at Ford Performance Centre on Monday ahead of Wednesday’s game against the Senators in Ottawa.
Slowed by a leg injury early in the season, Jack Campbell recovered to help lead the Leafs to their first division tittle since 2000. On Monday, the Toronto chapter of the Professional Hockey Writers Association named him the team's nominee for the Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy, which is awarded annually to the NHL player who best exemplifies perseverance, sportsmanship and dedication to hockey.
"It's been a terrific story for both he and then our team to rally around," said head coach Sheldon Keefe.

Mark Masters: Chemistry between Auston Matthews, Mitch Marner fuelling Toronto Maple Leafs

TSN Toronto Reporter Mark Masters reports on the Maple Leafs, who practised at Ford Performance Centre on Sunday before travelling to Montreal.
Two more goals for Auston Matthews on Saturday. Two more assists for Mitch Marner.
Toronto's dynamic duo continues to lead the way as the Leafs close in on their first division title since the 1999-2000 season.
"You could look back to the stone age and see chemistry between those two," said defenceman Travis Dermott. "When they're buzzing like they are it's easy for our team to get going."
On Saturday, the Leafs fell behind early and looked sluggish against the Vancouver Canucks. Then, late in the first period, Toronto's top line turned a defensive-zone draw into a goal in the blink of an eye.

Mark Masters: Toronto Maple Leafs' Rasmus Sandin given 'more runway' to prove he's playoff ready

TSN Toronto Reporter Mark Masters reports on the Maple Leafs, who practised at Ford Performance Centre on Tuesday before flying to Montreal for Wednesday’s game against the Canadiens.
Rasmus Sandin is getting an opportunity to prove he deserves a spot in the Leafs playoff lineup.
"We got to give him more runway here," said head coach Sheldon Keefe. "We expect he'll play most, if not all, the [eight] games remaining in the regular season."
The 21-year-old defenceman didn't play for the Leafs in the playoff bubble last summer and then only saw action in one NHL game – logging just five minutes – before being sent to the American Hockey League this season. He sustained a foot fracture in his first game with the Marlies on Feb. 15 and didn't return to game action until last week.

On milestone night, Morgan Rielly determined to help PP snap slump

The Maple Leafs held a team meeting on Sunday.
Morgan Rielly will play his 555th game as a Maple Leaf tonight moving past Brian Glennie and into 10th place on the franchise's all-time list among defencemen.
"There's great history here and just to play one game for this organization, you're automatically a part of it and that's special," the 27-year-old said. "I've been pretty fortunate to be around."
Tim Horton tops the list with 1,184 games played in blue and white. Rielly is now closing in on Ian Turnbull who is ninth with 580 games played.
Rielly, who was drafted fifth overall by Toronto in 2012, was asked if there's a former Leafs defenceman he's come to respect.
