Trial begins for off-duty Norfolk officer charged with killing mentally ill man
Norfolk police officer Edmund "Ryan" Hoyt is charged with manslaughter in the death of 42-year-old Kelvin White. Hoyt's lawyers claimed during opening statements that Hoyt killed White in self-defense, while a prosecutor argued he "overstepped" and wrongly shot and killed him.
