One of the candidates for Winter Garden City Commission in District 3, Bobby Olszewski, was interviewed by the Orlando Sentinel Editorial Board.

The city of Winter Garden’s municipal election takes place Tuesday, March 9, and there are six candidates on the ballot vying for three seats. The District 2 candidates Iliana Ramos Jones and Ron Mueller, who are seeking to replace retiring Commissioner Bob Buchanan. In District 3, Robert "Bobby O" Olszewski — who previously held the seat — is challenging incumbent Commissioner Mark Maciel. For District 4, newcomer Dawn Antonis will challenge incumbent Commissioner Colin Sharman, who has held the seat since 2006.  

With the city of Winter Garden's municipal election coming up March 9, three new candidates thus far have entered the race. Current District 2 Commissioner Bob Buchanan will be retiring from his seat, and Iliana Ramos Jones and Ron Mueller are competing for it.  Ramos Jones is a business owner who has lived in Winter Garden for more than 20 years. According to her campaign website, she is running for City Commission "to keep the special community feel that makes Winter Garden one of the best places to live, work and raise a family." A 1.07-acre property at the northeast corner of Main and Smith streets soon will house a 38-unit boutique apartment building and cafe.  Winter Garden commissioners approved an ordinance Thursday, Dec. 10, that will rezone the property — located at 199 S. Main St. and 158 S. Woodland St. — from Central Commercial District to Planned Unit Development.
