5 biggest names that could be moved before the NHL trade deadline

Timothy T. Ludwig-USA TODAY Sports
With the Monday, April 12 NHL trade deadline fast approaching, many teams will be making their final moves in preparation for a playoff push. A stagnant salary cap and the upcoming expansion draft of the Seattle Kraken this offseason have seen some worry about a lack of moves at this year’s deadline.
However, rumours are flying around about who may be finding themselves in a new destination later on this week.
Here is a list of the biggest names finding themselves in trade rumours before the 2021 NHL trade deadline.
1. Taylor Hall (Buffalo Sabres)
This season has gone terribly for the Buffalo Sabres, and that is putting it nicely. The team is currently in last place and seven points back from the second-worst team, the Ottawa Senators.

Welcome to the Monday Morning Racing Roundup on Tuesday. We’ll get to that Daytona 500 nonsense in a moment.
But first . . .
Last week was a rough one. Three superstars from the world of auto racing died:
Dick Bradbeer, vice-president of marketing for Labatt back in the early 1970s when it held the rights to promote Formula One racing in Canada;
Jeremy Hinchcliffe, father of IndyCar racing star James Hinchcliffe and a racer in his own right; and
Frank Orr of the Toronto Star who wrote hockey in the winter and auto racing in the summer in the 1960s and ‘70s.

TORONTO, ON - FEBRUARY 4: Jason Spezza #19 of the Toronto Maple Leafs celebrates his third goal of the night against the Vancouver Canucks with teammates John Tavares #91, Justin Holl #3 and William Nylander #88 during the third period at the Scotiabank Arena on February 4, 2021 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

Thursday’s game against the Vancouver Canucks was a great night for Leafs centres. Captain John Tavares scored, Auston Matthews scored (twice!), and the best of them all Jason Spezza score (thrice!). That’s right, the 18-year veteran, who has more NHL years under his belt than Tavares, Matthews, and Nick Robertson combined (!) put up a three-spot in the Leafs 7-3 win over Vancouver.
