DAZN hooks boxing deal with Matchroom

Global on-demand streaming sports service DAZN has struck a five-year deal with international boxing promoter Matchroom, which it claims will be game-changing.
Under the agreement, DAZN will be the global home of Matchroom and its worldwide stable of fighters – including a move that will see at least 16 Matchroom UK fights annually available exclusively to DAZN subscribers in the UK and Ireland for the first time.
DAZN’s schedule of Matchroom UK boxing kicks off on July 31 with three back-to-back weekends of the return of the Matchroom Fight Camp series. In due course, details of the slate of summer and autumn fight programming will be announced, including domestic, European and World title matches.

Digital sports streaming giant DAZN will become the global home of Matchroom Boxing and its stable of fighters - apart from heavyweight world champion Anthony Joshua - beginning in late July this year, with Matchroom chairman Eddie Hearn terminating an 8-year broadcast deal with Sky Sports in the UK. 
In a five-year deal reportedly worth nine figures, Matchroom UK fights will be available on DAZN in the UK and Ireland for the first time, with DAZN delivering a nonstop schedule featuring at least 16 exclusive Matchroom UK events annually to fans all around the world.

(Reuters) – Sports streaming service DAZN said that it had struck a five-year global deal with boxing promoter Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom stable, after an earlier agreement with Comcast’s Sky to host Hearn’s top fighters expired.
DAZN said it would show at least 16 Matchroom UK fights a year from July exclusively to subscribers in Britain and Ireland, and will also air Matchroom UK bouts to viewers around the world starting on July 31.
“As we continue Matchroom’s expansion worldwide, this new deal will enable us to further cement DAZN as the unrivalled global home of boxing,” said Hearn, who recently took over from father Barry as chairman of Matchroom.
