Edna Karr Junior High opens new facility in Algiers
Edna Karr High School on Monday celebrated its new facility in Algiers, part of a $1.8 billion reconstruction of Orleans Parish schools damaged during Hurricane Katrina and the federal levee failures. Construction began on the 153,332-square-foot building in January 2018 and ended this summer. The designer was Trapolin Peer Architects and the facility was built by CORE Construction. The three-story, $48 million school is located at 4400 General Meyer Ave. on the site of the former Jo Ellen Smith Medical Center.
