NRL 2021: Gold Coast Titans v St George Illawarra Dragons round 19

If all goes to plan for coach Justin Holbrook, David Fifita won't start for Gold Coast any time soon after his bold call to unleash his marquee man from the bench had spectacular results on Sunday. A fired-up Fifita was unstoppable at times, wreaking havoc off the interchange to inspire a 32-10 thumping of St George Illawarra at Cbus Super Stadium and keep the Titans' finals dream alive. It was almost men against boys as Fifita scored a barnstorming 34th-minute try and set up another, finishing with two line breaks, one line break assist and 13 tackle busts while running 127 metres.

He was denied a second under the sticks early in the second half after he was stripped by Jack Bird, but in the next set he steamrolled Ramsay to set up Greg Marzhew with a flick pass to put the Titans ahead 18-6. NRL 2021: Canterbury Bulldogs contracts, Phil Gould's recruitment calls

Phil Gould comes online as Bulldogs football manager as of Monday, with 13 off-contract players and a dozen open roster spots his first priority. Gould's return to the club he coached to a title more than 30 years ago begins via Zoom due to Sydney's latest COVID-19 outbreak, and there is no clear answer on when he will actually meet Canterbury players face-to-face. Critical calls on several of their futures will likely come before then. As well as having nearly half of Trent Barrett's top-30 roster unsigned beyond this season (only South Sydney has more than the Bulldogs 13 off-contract top s...

Dragons star Josh Maguire says he didn't think players would get caught at illegal house party

One of the 13 Dragons players who was busted at an illegal house party amid Sydney's lockdown has admitted the group never thought they'd get caught. Josh Maguire, 31, attended the now-infamous barbecue at prop Paul Vaughan's Shellharbour home, south of Sydney, on July 3. Vaughan was sacked while the dozen other players were given one match suspensions. Maguire, who joined St George Illawarra this season after previously starring for the Cowboys and Broncos, fronted the media and said he and his fellow teammates never thought the gathering would 'escalate to the magnitude it has'. Josh Magui...
