The court also said since the central bank started the process of liquidating the ailing NBFI in June 2019, it has hardly done anything to recover depositors money from those who defaulted on loans from PLFSL. The liquidation process began after the board of PLFSL informed BB in April 2019 about its inability to pay back the depositors money despite the maturity of the deposits.

Speaking to The Daily Star, PLFS s lawyer Mejbahur Rahman said the process of liquidation of the company was underway. In this situation, the HC s company bench had sought the list of the loan defaulters and accordingly, the list was submitted to the bench.
