F1: 'Everyone is trying to screw you over' says Bottas after grid penalty

Bottas will start the Styrian GP from 5th place after qualifying in P2 due to a penalty
June 27, 2021 07:26 BST
Valtteri Bottas just can't catch a break this season. After a spin in the pit lane during FP2 on Friday, his P2 Qualifying performance has been hit with a three-place grid penalty. As a result, Mercedes teammate Lewis Hamilton will be lining up beside pole sitter Max Verstappen at the Styrian Grand Prix on Sunday, with Bottas starting in fifth.
Bottas spun his Mercedes in the pit lane on Friday as soon as he left his garage. Apparently, the team had been experimenting on launching in second gear to help them gain an advantage over the Red bulls in the pit stops. However, it backfired as Bottas lost control of the car in a scary incident that could have resulted in tragedy if he had spun into a number of mechanics that were nearby.

Lewis Hamilton and Mercedes agree on 'Verstappen' contract clause

Lewis Hamilton and Mercedes agree on 'Verstappen' contract clause
The reported clause gives Hamilton the ability to approve his teammates in the future.
February 8, 2021 07:27 GMT
Reigning Formula One world champion Lewis Hamilton and the Mercedes F1 team have reportedly taken a major step towards his much-awaited contract renewal. Apparently, they have agreed to what is loosely being referred to as the "Verstappen clause."
While this clause is not necessarily directed at Red Bull driver Max Verstappen in particular, he is one of the drivers that will most likely be affected. Basically, Planet F1 reports that the clause will allow Hamilton to veto his teammate in the future.
