Microsoft’s heavy investment into artificial intelligence (AI) appears to have paid off, as shares of Microsoft Corp soared to a record high, closing at $348.10 per share on Thursday. The company now boasts of a record market valuation of $2.59 trillion.

The shares fell about 4.1% in their biggest intraday percentage decline since October 2020. The day’s drop erased more than $100 billion off its market valuation. Even with the decline, however, Microsoft remains up more than 45% this year.
