IIMC granted deemed-to-be-university status, empowered to award degrees

The Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC) has been granted the status of a deemed university, allowing it to award degrees. The declaration extends to IIMC's regional campuses in Jammu, Amravati, Aizawl, Kottayam, and Dhenkanal. With this new status, IIMC can offer doctoral degrees. It is also the training academy for Indian Information Service officers. The UGC declared IIMC as a Deemed to be University, and the institute expressed its commitment to promoting education, training, and research in mass communication.

Ram temple inauguration: Centre issues advisory against publishing false content

The Indian government has issued an advisory to news media, including social media platforms, warning against publishing false or provocative content ahead of the consecration of the Ram temple in Ayodhya on January 22. DTH licence fee: Reliance Jio subscribes to keeping DTH licence fee

In August, Trai recommended to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) that the government abolish the licence fee for DTH operators after the end of FY27 to ensure the long-term sustainability of the sector. Trai argued that DTH platforms be treated similar to other regulated and unregulated distribution platforms, such as cable TV, headend in the sky (HITS), Internet protocol television (IPTV), and over-the-top (OTT) services.

Govt spent Rs 967.46 crore on advertisements in print media from 2019-20 to 2023-24

"The details of expenditure incurred by CBC, under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, on awareness/publicity campaigns about schemes and programmes of the government of India through print media from 2019-20 to 2023-24 (till 12.12.2023) is Rs 967.46 crore," Thakur said.
