Joplin yesterday but it never touchdown. twisters touching down in linn county kansas on the missouri border. this barn and other buildings destroyed. now looks like a scrap metal yard out there. incredibly and thankfully in that area nobody hurt. bill: a lot of warnings went out. look at this image from northeast oklahoma. look at all the damage and destruction they have to go through. two areas hard-hit. one person dead in oklahoma. in the area of arkansas where casey stegall is reporting north of little rock about 20 miles, you had at least 10 die in that county. northeastern oklahoma is where you had another fatality overnight. today though it will be extreme yet again, a lot of warnings going out for the leading edge of this storm. ....
Flooding. i want to take a live look at a picture out of kansas city area right now. we see some clouds from it, but there is potentially a little bit of rotation that s going to be associated with this, so if you are in the kansas city area, this comes to courtesy of wdaf, certainly watch this and be prepared for this storm. there is a lot of moisture that is being brought up from areas of the gulf of mexico. we haven t seen that so much this year because it s been so cold all across the eastern satisfy sea board. take a look at all these tornado watches we have in effect. across parts of nebraska and right across iowa and missouri border, texas, louisiana, oklahoma, and over toward mississippi. a few tornado warnings, one to the west of the springfield area, to the north of joplin, we ve had some reports of tornadoes with those cells. most of these cells across arkansas right now are only ....
Kansas, harveyville. half the town sustained damage. it was one little funnel there. the big breaking piece of news overnight, it looks like bran son, missouri, it s near joplin, hit by a tornado last night. does not appear to be a big, devastating tornado like the one that hit joplin. the entertainment district has been hit. the roof of a waurl mart has reported to be collapsed. best western is supposed to have major damage. no reports of any fatalities out of bran son. it does appear that bran son, missouri, was hit by a pretty strong tornado overnight. overall, ten tornado reports. these show where they occurred around the greater springfield area and a couple in areas of kansas. we have a tornado warning still. possibility of one occurring now along the arkansas missouri border. we ll watch that as that storm ....
Water is now flowing through a 30-foot wide hole in the levee near the iowa, missouri border. the floodwater is expected to reach major roads and residential areas some time tomorrow. now to arizona where wildfires are still raging spreading to 700 square miles. thousands of people have been forced to flee their homes. firefighters believe they are making a little progress containing about 10% of the blaze. nbc s tom llamas is in the town of springerville. what progress can they hope to make? reporter: the big question was will this become arizona s largest wildfire ever? right now they re 15,000 acres from that happening. at a press briefing they said that s not going to happen. they feel they have 10% of this fire contained. they have the controlled fires burning in front of the wildfire. basically they do that to burn up some of the lush pine forest to stop the wildfire where it s at to stop it in its tracks. ....
