The snap presidential election in Uzbekistan is scheduled for 9 July 2023. In accordance with the amendments to the Constitution adopted by the referendum on 30 April 2023, the president of Uzbekistan is elected for seven years with the possibility of re-election for a second term.
The CIS IPA Member Parliaments, officials of the CIS IPA member states and experts of the International Institute of Monitoring Democracy Development of the CIS IPA are currently forming a group of observers.
At the invitation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, a group of international observers from the CIS Inter-Parliamentary Assembly has been put together to monitor the early elections of deputies to the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The observers are set to meet with the leadership of the parliament and the CEC of Belarus on 26 February, and will monitor the referendum at polling stations in Minsk and other cities of the country on 27 February.
The corresponding letter signed by Chairwoman of the Council of the Republic Natalya Kochanova and Chairman of the House of Representatives Vladimir Andreichenko was sent to Chairwoman of the CIS IPA Council, Chairwoman of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Valentina Matviyenko.
