It was thoughts of his family that kept him alive and he was convinced someone would hear him as he struggled to move the manhole cover he found himself underneath.
A man was found in a manhole in Gqeberha on Sunday morning after residents walking their dogs heard his screams. Police spokesperson Captain Sandra Janse van Rensburg said the manhole was near a reservoir in Mount Croix. “Residents walking their dogs came across the man screaming for help,” she said.
