COVID-19 surge in Pune: Educational institutions in Pimpri Chinchwad to remain closed till April 30

In the wake of rising COVID-19 cases in the Pune district, the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation has issued new circular directing closure of educational institutions within its limits.
However, the civic body has exempted classes for Standard 10, 12. Apart from them, the classes for MPSC and UPSC can also be conducted with 50 percent capacity.

Pune district in Maharashtra reported 8,605 new coronavirus cases on Wednesday, its biggest one-day surge in the number of infections since the outbreak of the pandemic, a health official said.
It pushed this western Maharashtra district's overall tally to 5,34,411, he said.

The Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC)'s preliminary examinations for 2020 shall be conducted on March 21, according to an official announcement here on Friday.
The exams were scheduled for March 14 (Sunday) but were postponed for the fifth time in the past 12 months in view of the Covid-19 crisis, sparking off massive protests across the state on Thursday, rattling the government.
Late last night Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray addressed the states and declared to the candidates that the preliminary exams shall be conducted "within a week".
He also assured that over 2.60 lakh candidates appearing throughout the state, shall not be deprived of the opportunity to sit for the preliminary exams on various grounds like age-bar, etc.

The Maharashtra Public Service Commission, MPSC's Civil Services Preliminary Exam will be held on March 21.
As per a notice issued by the MPSC today, there is no change in the timetable of the MPSC Engineering Services Preliminary Exam. It will be held on March 27, while the Maharashtra Group B Combined Prelims Exam will be held on April 11.

The Maharashtra state service preliminary exam has been postponed and will be held within eight days. "The exam date will be announced by the Chief Minister today,"an official statement said. The exam was scheduled to be held on March 14.
The exam conducting body, the Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) had notified yesterday about the postponement of the exam due to the rising cases of COVID-19 in the state.
The state relief and rehabilitation department issued a circular in this regard and said it was reviewing the situation in various parts of the state.

Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) has announced revised dates for state civil service prelims examination.
As per the official notification, the MPSC preliminary examination, which was scheduled to be held on 11 October, 2020 will now be conducted on Sunday, 14 March, 2021.
The Times of India, the Maharashtra Public Service Commission will conduct the examination for the recruitment in various departments to posts such as Block Development Officer, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Deputy Collector, Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Deputy Registrar Cooperative Societies, Superintendent State Excise Department and Tahsildar.
