28 killed in Zambia Christmas Day accidents

Punch Newspapers Sections Published 29 December 2020 Zambia recorded 234 road traffic accidents, 18 of them leading to 28 deaths during this year’s Christmas holidays. According to statistics released Monday by police spokesperson Esther Katongo, from December 24 to December 28, the capital city, Lusaka, recorded the highest number of 105 road accidents with five deaths, followed by Copperbelt Province which had 34 accidents with four deaths. A 65 year old Zambian woman has allegedly killed his over 80 year old husband after a marital dispute in Isoka District of Muchinga Province. Phanias Namwayi is alleged to have hit his husband Maxwell Chunda using a stick after the two quarrelled. Muchinga Province Police Commissioner Joel Njase confirmed the incident in Mpika. According to the Police Commissioner, the incident happened on 13th December around 19:00 hours in Malambwa village.
