Thai vice minister of foreign affairs, Vijavat Isarabhakdi confirmed that most the work on the Trilateral Highway project already has been completed in Thailand.
The health sector in India has seen many private investments in the past five years, they said on Wednesday at the Indian Chamber of Commerce-organised BIMSTEC Health Forum.
As the free trade area framework under the BIMSTEC is progressing slowly, members of the seven-country bloc are now considering certain components of it, such as trade facilitation and mutual assistance on customs matters, to finalise and proceed for implementation, a top official of the regional organisation said here on Thursday.
“West Bengal, Bangladesh, North Eastern states will act as a compact hub in boosting trade with South East Asia. It has been suggested by the Japanese government and other European countries. The Japanese government is building a deep-sea port in Bangladesh. That port will serve as a point which will boost trade in the region,” Rajiv Ranjan Singh said at the BIMSTEC conclave.
Member countries of the multilateral forum are Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Myanmar, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Thailand
