President Uhuru Kenyatta yesterday declared that he was in charge amid sustained pressure by his allies to kick out his deputy William Ruto for opposing his pet project, the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI).
The visibly angry president said he had listened to political talk for six hours, adding that no political figure would stand on his way to leave a peaceful and united country when he retires next year.
“When a lion has been rained on, don’t confuse it for a cat. Everything has its time. Those making noise and writing letters, let them continue but I want to make it clear that I am in charge and in control and I know where I am going,” said Uhuru.

Speakers in Mululu, Vihiga county, who attended the funeral of Hannah Atsianzale on Saturday hailed Musalia Mudavadi as one best placed to lead Kenya in 2022.
Hannah was Mudavadi's mother, who died last year on December 28. She was 92.
Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala addressed President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga, who attended the funeral, asking them to support Mudavadi in the 2022 presidency race.
According to Malala, the two owe the ANC leader, and have no option other than to pay by rendering their support.
Mudavadi came a distant third in the presidential race after Kenyatta and Cord candidate Raila in 2013 and conceded defeat. In the runup to the 2017 polls, the Amani leader joined Raila to form NASA.

Politicians, friends and family members paid tribute to Hannah Atsianzale Mudavadi, mother of Amani National Congress party leader Musalia Mudavadi, as she was laid to rest at her home in Mululu, Vihiga County.
Atsianzale was eulogised as the force behind her husband, the late powerful minister Moses Mudavadi, as well as the person who propelled her son Musalia into a successful politician.
Few Kenyans knew about the late Atsianzale prior to her death on December 28, aged 92, at the Nairobi Hospital.
However, during her memorial service, family members and friends testified of a strong and prayerful woman who overcame numerous adversities to grow into a successful entrepreneur and impactful member of the community.

Musalia Mudavadi's 2022 presidential bid yesterday got support from Western region politicians. The special service for Hannah Atsianzale Mudavadi in Mululu, Vihiga County, was turned into a political arena with leaders, among them former Cabinet minister Amukowa Anangwe, voicing support for Mudavadi.
Anangwe ignited the debate when he said the region should rally behind Mudavadi. “We should fold the smaller political parties in the region and join Mudavadi in ANC. Its a lie to say our people are not united, the politicians running around with briefcase parties are the ones divided,” said Prof Anangwe.
