New Delhi, June 9 : The Leader of Opposition in the West Bengal Assembly, Suvendu Adhikari, met Prime Minister Narendra Modi here on Wednesday and discussed the political situation in the state along with other issues.
It is believed that the meeting lasted for around 45 minutes, during which Adhikari had a detailed discussion with the Prime Minister on the political situation in the eastern state, including the latest developments, among other issues, sources said.
As per the sources, Adhikari briefed the Prime Minister about the violence 'unleashed' against the BJP workers and the 'atmosphere of fear' created for the saffron cadre in West Bengal.

New Delhi, May 4 : Amid reports of violence against its supporters allegedly by Trinamool Congress workers, the BJP on Tuesday pledged that the party will stand with those who believed in it.
Addressing a virtual press conference BJP Spokesperson, Dr Sambit Patra said, "We are the main Opposition party in Bengal today and we are taking this pledge today - we are standing by the 2.28 crore voters of Bengal who believed in us."
"2.28 crore Bengalis voted for the BJP, is it not their democratic right to vote for a political party of their choice? Will Mamata Banerjee led TMC government take care of them? Do they have no democratic right?" he asked.

Comparing the TMC with Nazis, the BJP dubbed the government is Bengal as fascist.
The BJP on Monday had alleged that four of its workers were killed in West Bengal by TMC workers after the state assembly poll results.
Banerjee led her party Trinamool Congress to a massive win in the West Bengal assembly elections announced on Sunday.

PUDUCHERRY: Campaigning for assembly polls in Puducherry ended on Sunday with all the players including the NDA and Congress-DMK alliances putting in their best efforts to woo voters in 30 assembly seats for the polls on April 6.
The Union Territory is witnessing a tough battle essentially between these two alliances. The National Democratic Alliance in the Puducherry is a rare case where the BJP is not the largest constituent of the alliance.
