Karnataka Covid lockdown news live: Remdesivir allocation to state increased to 2,62,346 from May 10 to 16
A day after the Karnataka HC directed the Centre to increase the daily liquid medical oxygen (LMO) allocation for the state to 1,200MT from the present 962MT per day, the central government rushed to the Supreme Court on Thursday against the HC order. The vaccine availability scenario is shocking to say the least, the Karnataka HC observed, directing the state to immediately submit the indent/requisition to the authority concerned in the central government for supply of required quantity of doses. Health minister K Sudhakar admitted that it has not had desired effect in stopping the surge of Covid-19 cases amid strong indications that the state government may opt for a fullscale two-week lockdown at a crucial meeting on May 10. Two days after BJP lawmakers claimed to have exposed a hospital bed-booking scam in BBMP and social media trolls gave it a communal twist and insinuated “terrorists” were at work, civic authorities on Thursday struggled to convince contract workers and volunteers to return to work for Covid tasks. While announcing the new SOPs, which come into force from April 10, Rohini Sindhuri, district deputy commissioner, and Chandra Gupta, Mysuru police commissioner, appealed to people to follow Covid-appropriate behaviour.

BENGALURU: With CD-gate taking new twists and turns with every passing day, the ruling BJP seems to have distanced itself from the six ministers’ decision to seek an injunction against media from publishing or airing any unauthenticated or defamatory content against them.
Alleging that there is a big political conspiracy to defame them, Health Minister Dr K Sudhakar, Agriculture Minister B C Patil, Labour Minister Shivaram Hebbar, Cooperation Minister S T Somashekar, Urban Development Minister Byrathi Basavaraj and Youth Empowerment and Sports Minister K C Narayana Gowda moved court. All of them had jumped to the BJP from the Congress and JDS with Ramesh Jarkiholi in 2019, and helped the BJP form its government in Karnataka.

Social activist withdraws sex-for-job complaint against BJP lawmaker

A social activist who recently released video clips of a sex-for-job scam that forced the resignation of Karnataka minister Ramesh Jarkiholi has sought to withdraw his police complaint against the BJP lawmaker allegedly because he was accused of extortion.
Dinesh Kallahalli told reporters on Sunday that he was hurt by allegations of extortion raised by former chief minister and Janata Dal Secular leader H.D. Kumaraswamy.
Kumaraswamy had on Friday said that the release of the incriminating video clips was part of an extortion bid by Kallahalli.
The video clips released last week showed a man resembling Jarkholi in a compromising position with a young woman in what appeared to be a hotel room. While Jarkiholi had later pleaded innocence and claimed he had no idea about the woman, the BJP leadership forced him to resign to avoid further embarrassment.

Yediyurappa to bring Mandya jaggery under the PDS, making it available to beneficiaries across the State at fair price shops at a subsidised cost. A response from the CM is awaited and the proposal is expected to be discussed in the Cabinet before a decision is taken.
