Benjamin and former Philadelphia Eagles running back and Super Bowl hero Corey Clement impressed over the weekend during tryouts at rookie minicamp and received one-year deals.
A wide receiver who had more than 1,000 yards as a rookie for the Panthers in 2013, Benjamin has not played in the NFL since 2018. He worked primarily as a tight end at the tryout.
"In terms of Benjamin working a different position [Friday], we're going to work different guys at a variety of things right now," Giants coach Joe Judge said. "He's a big guy. He's always been a big receiver. He'll work receiver. He's working a little bit flex tight end as well.

The 2021 NFL Draft has elapsed, and it’s time to turn to rookie minicamps, OTAs, and everything that pertains to the post-NFL Draft world. According to Ourlads.com’s depth chart, the Giants have 90 players on the roster without the undrafted free agents; the signings of Florida OC Brett Heggie, OT from Baylor Jake Barton, and Georgia Southern EDGE Raymond Johnson III put the roster at 93.

The New York Giants are retaining veteran blocking tight end Levine Toilolo on a re-structured contract, per Ian Rapoport.
Toilolo had been set to make $2.95 million in 2021, the second year of a two-year, $6.2 million free agent deal he signed with the Giants last offseason.
The 29-year-old Toilolo was primarily a blocker and special teams player. He caught just 5 passes in 16 games while playing 275 snaps. 27 percent of the offensive plays.
No details of the new deal have been released. As Ralph Vacchiano of SNY already tweeted, it’s hard to imagine this “restructure” is anything more than a pay cut. Toilolo’s skill set is a replaceable one, and extending his contract would be hard to understand. I have been advocating moving on from Toilolo, and I’m surprised the Giants didn’t take the full $2.925 million cap savings and do that.

NFL free agency doesn’t officially begin for a few more days, though with veterans being shed by teams as cost-cutting measures the market is actually already open. The 2021 NFL Draft is only a few weeks away.
With those things in mind, it’s about time I laid out a comprehensive offseason plan for the New York Giants. This will be in two parts, with Part 1 focused on a position-by-position look at a plan for beefing up the league’s 31st-ranked offense.

New York Giants free-agency overview: Adding a top WR or edge rusher a must

Game plan: Finding a backup for Barkley is a must, especially with him coming off a torn ACL. Gallman will likely be welcomed back at the right price after showing well in Barkley's absence. If Gallman lands elsewhere, perhaps free agent James White makes sense with his connection to the coaching staff and ability to contribute in the passing game.

Game plan: Tate won't be returning at $8.5 million. He could be a cost-cutting casualty. C.J. Board might return as a restricted free agent. Regardless, the Giants need to find a No. 1 wide receiver. They will be monitoring the top of the market at the position closely.
