Kezoma Urban Station inaugurated Our Correspondent Kohima, Oct. 28 (EMN): Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio on Friday said that the upcoming state assembly election, which due in the first quarter of 2023, will be deferred for some time if a solution to the Naga political issue is arrived at during that time. Speaking at the inaugural programme of Kezoma Urban Station in Kohima district, Rio said this is necessary as there will be an interim period for fulfillment of the commitments and increasing seats in the Legislative Assembly and parliaments, as well as economic package for development activities in the event of final settlement. However, he said there will be election even if a solution is arrived at or not, being in a democratic country. So, he urged the people to choose their representatives wisely. Our Reporter Dimapur, Oct. 7 (EMN): From a modest home-based baker and gradually nurturing into a full-fledged entrepreneur, Alila Pongener, a mother of four children, opened a boutique under the name “Lee’s M&B Mama and Baby Boutique” on October 7 under the tagline “Be the trendsetter.” The boutique, located at The Native Crossing building opposite to Sub-Jail near Eden Hospital in Dimapur, was inaugurated by the advisor of Urban Development and Municipal Affairs, Dr. Neikiesalie Kire. Old age homes needed in all districts of Nagaland to rescue homeless senior citizens, says Elderline official

Our Correspondent Kohima, Sep. 28 (EMN): A total of 3309 calls were received from senior citizens and 102 service requests resolved in the last one year by the senior citizens’ helpline — Elderline Nagaland. This was informed by the programme manager, Elderline, Neithonuo Liegise during the 1st anniversary celebration of Elderline Nagaland at Angami Women Organisation (AWO) building in Kohima on Wednesday. Further, she informed that more than 100 senior citizen cards were registered with the help of first response officers (FROs) under Senior Citizens Association Nagaland (SCAN) and a total of six destitute elderly persons were rescued since the launch of the helpline. Liegise said that through the initiative of the Elderline and with the support of the implementing agency and stakeholders, it had approached the SBI main branch, Kohima to open a separate counter for senior citizens and establish senior citizen-friendly facilities. She added that SBI branches in all the districts will also open separate counters for senior citizens and that the Nagaland State Transport (NST) had agreed and approved the government’s order to reserve four seats for senior citizens (travelling with senior citizen card) and differently-able persons for free in the state. Municipal Affairs dept. conducts training on FC grants

Dimapur, Sep. 24 (EMN): Department of Municipal Affairs under the initiatives of the Regional Centre for Urban and Environmental Studies, Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, organised a capacity building on the 15th Finance Commission grants for urban local bodies (ULB) on September 23 at the conference hall of the Don Bosco Training Institute, Dimapur. A DIPR report stated that the advisor of Urban Development and Municipal department, Dr. Neikiesalie Kire gave away certificates and computer to the district administrators at the valedictory function. He assured them of support and added that such training would continue in the coming days. Nienu pushes for Nagaland Medical Negligence Bill to counter malpractices

Leader of NPF Legislature Party, Kuzholuzo Nienu, pressed upon the government to bring out the Nagaland Medical Negligence Bill to check medical “malpractices”, which he said, “have been noticeable ever since the establishment of health care facilities in the state”. “The Nagaland Medical Negligence Bill has to be passed by this August house to check Medical Negligence and malpractices for restoring the lost trust and respect in the noble profession and also provide the best possible health care delivery in our state”, Nienu said. Hemkund Gases opens its first store in Northeast India

Our Correspondent Kohima, Sep. 10 (EMN): Nagaland became the first state in the Northeast to open Hemkund Gases store/office in Kohima, which launched on Saturday with M/S TZZ Gas Agency as the distributor. Advisor of Urban Development and Municipal Affairs, Dr. Neikiesalie Kire, inaugurated the store, after which the agency presented him with the first gas card, a stove, and a cylinder. Kire lauded the agency for venturing into the business, saying that young entrepreneurs should start ‘something new’ instead of doing things that everyone does. He advised them to be humble, respect one another and be kind to their customers. ‘Work with sincerity and devotion and let the business grow from scratch to the maximum,’ he said while advising them to put their trust in the ‘Lord’ for things to work out. Nagas told to rectify culture of dependency
