Vaccination Second Phase: Senior citizens at Mulund Jumbo Centre asked to return after glitches in CoWIN portal

Vaccination Second Phase: Senior citizens at Mulund Jumbo Centre asked to return after glitches in CoWIN portal

Mumbai: As the second phase of the
coronavirus vaccination drive began in
Mumbai on Monday, beneficiaries had to face several inconveniences related to the CoWIN portal and many were even asked to return home at the
Mulund Jumbo Centre.
Citizens above 60 years of age and those above 45 with co-morbidities are eligible to get inoculated during the second phase. They were asked to get themselves registered in advance on the Centre's CoWIN 2.0 portal, however, several people complained that their names did not show up on the portal at the Centre even after registering.

No plan yet to vaccinate the bed-ridden | India News

NEW DELHI: Amit Bhandari, 72, who got vaccinated at Nesco Goregaon, Mumbai, on Monday, said he had a major dilemma. His wife, bed-ridden since she suffered from a spine injury two years ago, can’t come to the vaccination centre, leave alone stand in queue to take the shot. “I urge the government to think about those who can’t come to the hospital to get vaccinated. They deserve vaccine protection like everybody else,” he told Sumitra Deb Roy.
S Rao, another Mumbai resident, shared a similar concern about his maternal uncle and aunt. “They are in their mid- and late-80s. Both are too fragile to come to a vaccination centre. Since I don’t have a solution, I haven’t even discussed the topic of vaccination and that the drive has started,” he said. Suresh Kabra said they were in a quandary about a friend’s wife who has recently undergone knee surgery. “We’ve got an appointment for her in a hospital on Tuesday but we’re not sure how to bring her from Malad,” he said. A senior state official said the issue of bedridden patients hasn’t been discussed yet. “Probably after the initial rush, we may look into it,” he said.
