Last monthâs fatal shooting in Atlanta that left six Asian women dead inspired demonstrations, marches and protests throughout Boston over the weekend, as local groups mobilize with the hashtag #StopAsianHate.
The horrific event also inspired Phoebe Tian, a 14-year-old high school student from Lexington, to write a song.
âIt is time when we speak up, we sit up high, we stand up strong,â a crowd of 200 people sang on the Boston Common Sunday. âWe are proud to be Asian; staying quiet is not an option.â

Demonstrators Rally in Boston Against Anti-Asian Violence

Demonstrators rallied on the Boston Common Sunday against the wave of anti-Asian violence occurring across the nation.
The rally was led by the New England Chinese American Alliance (NECAA), Chinese American Association of Lexington (CAAL) and New Moon International Media Inc. and more than 50 participating organizations.

Organizers said the purpose of the rally was to urge educators and school leaders in Massachusetts to bring the Asian American story into the curriculum in schools.
This event wasn't the only one in Massachusetts this weekend calling for an to end anti-racism against Asian-Americans.
