AFL 2021 Richmond Tigers' Sydney Stack to make return via VFL

DOWNLOAD
Previously, Stack and Callum Coleman-Jones received 10-match bans -- now completed -- and were sent home from the Tigers' Queensland hub after breaching the AFL's COVID-19 policies by attending a Gold Coast strip club and being involved in a fight outside a kebab shop.
Coleman-Jones has been involved in VFL practice matches but Stack will get his first minutes since that September suspension in Friday's season opener against Sandringham at Punt Road.
"(Coleman-Jones has) been playing - he's been in really good form at VFL level so once again he'll put his hand up for selection which is a positive for us," Richmond coach Damien Hardwick said. "Sydney's obviously had the limited prep with his court case in WA - so he'll play some VFL minutes this week but that will be limited."

Thrilling AFLW win for Dockers

Thrilling AFLW win for Dockers
Carlton AFLW coach Daniel Harford has described his side's agonising four-point loss to Fremantle as "pretty gutting".
The Blues led virtually all day, and at one stage enjoyed a 21-point advantage, but a sensational three-goal burst in the final quarter saw the Dockers complete a remarkable fightback in a classic clash at Princes Park.

The 6.9 (45) to 6.5 (41) loss on Sunday all but ended the Blues' slim finals hopes as they slipped two games and percentage outside the top six.

AFLW Melbourne too classy for St Kilda

Melbourne have shrugged off a wayward fortnight to return to the AFLW winners list with a crushing 44-point victory over St Kilda.
Usually a midfielder, Demons captain Daisy Pearce proved a handful up forward with two goals as Melbourne swept away the Saints 9.12 (66) to 3.4 (22) at Casey Fields.
It was the Demons' second biggest score in their history as Tyla Hanks, Karen Paxman, Eden Zanker, Lauren Pearce and Kate Hore produced performances that were a class above the young Saints.
Melbourne won their first three games of the season, but entered Saturday night's match following a horror two weeks, where they kicked a combined total of 3.20, in poor defeats to Collingwood and the Western Bulldogs.

GWS defender Louise Stephenson is extinguishing threats on and off the AFLW field, having spent her pre-season studying to be a firefighter.
Stephenson's dad was a firey and she wanted to follow in his footsteps, but growing up did not believe it was an option for women.
The foundation Giant's eyes were opened when she moved to Sydney. Having completed a 14-week intensive course at Fire and Rescue NSW's academy, Stephenson is now working in the CBD fire station alongside dual international Ruan Sims.

Another AFLW win for the North Melbourne Kangaroos over the St Kilda Saints

High-flying North Melbourne have continued their perfect start to the AFLW season after accounting for St Kilda by 26 points at Arden Street.
The Saints made it hard for the Kangaroos in the first three quarters, but North showed why they are premiership favourites as they gradually wore down St Kilda's resistance to win 5.6 (36) to 1.4 (10).
As they did to Geelong last week, the Kangaroos kept the Saints goalless in three quarters, including a scoreless second half, to start their season 2-0 for the second time in three years.
North have now conceded just 19 points in two games in 2021.
Compounding the loss for the Saints was another injury setback for Bianca Jakobsson.

Western Australia lockdown wreaks AFLW havoc

Western Australia's COVID-19 shutdown has thrown the AFLW season into early disarray, with two clubs in lockdown, another thrust into 14-days of self-isolation and ticket sales for upcoming matches put on hold.
WA was plunged into a minimum five-day lockdown on Sunday after a security guard at one of Perth's quarantine hotels tested positive to COVID-19.
While the West Coast and Fremantle teams are now under that strict lockdown, Adelaide and GWS both jetted out of Perth and headed to Adelaide on Sunday evening after playing the Eagles and Dockers respectively in round one on the weekend.
On arrival in the South Australian capital, Adelaide players, coaches and staff were told to immediately self-isolate for 14 days after SA closed its WA border.

Star Adelaide Crows midfielder Ebony Marinoff has been referred directly to the Tribunal for the front-on contact that fractured the neck of Greater Western Sydney recruit Brid Stack.
Stack was rushed to hospital on Sunday after she was hurt attempting to make a tackle during the fourth quarter of the AFLW practice match at Adelaide's Norwood Oval on Sunday.
Scans confirmed Stack had suffered a stable fracture of the C7 vertebra but no injury to the surrounding nerves.
The 34-year-old from Ireland was discharged from hospital on Sunday night and does not require surgery, but will wear a neck brace in the short-term.
