6th edition of Raisina dialogue to begin today, PM Modi will inaugurate


New Delhi: From today, India's major global conference 'Raisina Dialogue' related to geopolitical topics is starting. The dialogue will begin with a video message from PM Narendra Modi. Due to corona crisis, the sixth edition of Raisina Dialogue is going to be held online which will run from 13 to 16 April. There will be a total of 50 sessions in this discussion, in which 150 speakers from 50 countries and multilateral organizations will participate. Organized jointly by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Observer Research Foundation, this interaction will be attended by many world leaders and high officials.
The Foreign Ministry said in a statement, "PM Narendra Modi will start this dialogue on April 13 with a video message. Rwanda President Paul Kagame and Denmark's PM Mette Friedrichsson will attend the session as the chief guest. The statement said Australia PM Scott Morrison will also participate in a season. The theme of the Raisina Dialogue is "Viral World: Outbreaks, Outliers, and Out of Control".

Siemens Healthcare promotes Vivek Kanade as its Managing Director


 
Siemens Healthcare Private Ltd, a wholly-owned subsidiary company of global MedTech company Siemens Healthineers AG, has promoted Vivek Kanade as its Managing Director.
According to the Company, Kanade will continue to lead the business for Siemens Healthineers India including manufacturing, sales and distribution, strategy for ‘Zone India’, comprising of neighboring countries viz.  Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka and the Maldives, said a company statement.
During his association with Siemens for over 27 years, he has held various positions across diverse functions in sales, service management, regional management and modality management.
Before moving into Siemens Healthineers in India, Kanade was Vice President of Global Sales and Marketing for the refurbished business, based out of Forchheim, Germany.

India win over Argentina in Second match on FIH Pro League


In the second match of the FIH Pro League, Indian men’s hockey team win by  3-0 over reigning Olympic champions Argentina. Security forces Ethiopia's Oromia state kill 119 suspected rebels


ADDIS ABABA: Security forces in Ethiopia's Oromia state have killed 119 rebels, a top official said.
Alemayehu Tesfaye, Chief Administrator of East Wollega zone of Oromia regional state, said on Sunday that a further 43 suspected OLA rebels and their accomplices were also arrested during recent military operations. The rebels were suspected to be members of the outlawed Oromo Liberation Army (OLA), which is a  breakaway faction of the former rebel group Oromo Liberation Front (OLF).
OLF is an opposition political party claiming to fight for the rights of ethnic Oromos who make up about 35 percent of Ethiopia's 110 million-plus population. The OLF was designated as a terrorist group by the Ethiopian Parliament in 2011.

Bangladesh imposes seven-day lockdown, air travel ban from Monday


DHAKA: The Bangladesh government on Saturday decided to impose a week-long nationwide lockdown from Monday as COVID-19 cases and deaths spiraled up across the country.
Accordingly, All international passenger flights to and from Bangladesh will remain suspended from April 14 to 20, DPA news quoted the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) as saying in a statement.  More than 500 flights will be cancelled because of the ban, said the CAAB's Air Vice Marshal M Mafidur Rahman.
Domestic passenger flights and chartered helicopter flights are among those to be suspended, while some exceptions may be made for medical evacuations, humanitarian relief and cargo flights, the aviation authority said.
