Joia!, an album unlike any other in that it was heavily influenced by Brazilian music and recorded in Rio, but with lyrics in Welsh; a true transatlantic collaboration. For Ellis, who is known in indie pop circles as the front-man for Colorama, and also plays guitar with The Pretenders, the album was the culmination of a burgeoning admiration for Brazilian music. With his Carwyn Ellis & Rio 18 band, he followed that album up with another ,
Mas, released earlier this year, that was once more recorded in Rio (at Audio Rebel), but also hinted at some other Latin American influences outside of Brazil. Nitin Sawhney Sets March Release For 'Immigrants' Album, Shares New Song Differences

Nitin Sawhney has confirmed the release date of his first album in over five years.
'Immigrants' will arrive on March 19 via Sony Music Masterworks and feature new versions of the previously shared Movement, Lifeline, You Are, Down The Road, and Differences, which blends eastern sounds with lively percussion and a bubbling bassline. Check it out below along with the record's artwork and tracklist.
Having returned with new material in 2020, the LP showcases compositions inspired and contributed by artists who either identify themselves as immigrants, are from immigrant heritage or wish to support international immigrants. The previously unheard Vai, Exile, Replay, Heat & Dust, Box, Tokyo, Another Sky and Dream also appear among the record's 20-strong tracklist.

New on Ghost Box, Portugal's Beautify Junkyards release their fourth album, a rich and many-faceted thing, according to Will Salmon
A cosmorama, in case you were wondering, is an exhibitionthat uses lights, mirrors and different perspectives to display images from far-flung parts of the world. In the case of Portuguese band Beautify Junkyards' fourth album, it feels like an apt metaphor for a record that moves briskly between the different facets of their sound.
Where their 2018 release,
The Invisible World Of Beautify Junkyards, had an earthy, folksy vibe,
Cosmorama is grander in scope. It’s more sonically adventurous and features a clutch of cameos from like-minded artists.
