M. Lakshmanan, Professor of Eminence, Department of Non-linear Dynamics, School of Physics, Bharathidasan University, has been selected for the prestigious fellowship of the National Science Chairs instituted by the Department of Science and Technology - Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB), for 2021.
The Bhatnagar awardee is one among five eminent professors selected for the fellowship.
The fellowship to promote excellence in research and development, entitles Prof. Lakshmanan, a globally renowned expert in the area of non-linear dynamics, to ₹1.5 lakh per month and an annual personal research grant of ₹25 lakh.
This honour is meant for outstanding senior scientists who have superannuated and are eminent for their outstanding contributions, both nationally and internationally, in the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM) and Medicine.Prof. Lakshmanan who received the prestigious S.S. Las Cruces-based engineering professors rank among top 2% in their research fields worldwide

  Engineering professors from New Mexico State University have earned the distinction of being among the top 2% of scientists worldwide as measured by the impact of their research publications. The engineering authors were identified in a worldwide database of top scientists created by Stanford University and recently published in the journal Public Library of Science Biology.
“Our faculty are at the forefront of several key research areas in engineering. They are among the best of our peers in terms of research productivity. The number of publications per faculty and number of citations, place our researchers very competitively among our peers,” said Lakshmi N. Reddi, dean of the College of Engineering. ....

FUTA lecturer wins AU scientific award

Prof Ibiyinka Fuwape of Physics Department, Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA) has emerged one of the winners of African Union Kwame Nkrumah Regional Award for Scientific Excellence, AUKNASE 2020.
Mr Adebanyo Adegbenro, the Deputy Director, Corporate Communications, FUTA, disclosed in a statement issued on Wednesday in Akure.
According to the statement, Fuwape won the award for her outstanding contributions to cutting edge research in the areas of Climate Change, Air Quality and Biophysics.
The statement added that Fuwape’s research interests included: Theory of Chaos and Application of Non-linear Dynamics in Coupled Oscillator Systems, Neuronal Systems, Lower and Upper Atmospheric Research. ....
