THE Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (PhilHealth) 7 paid P763,266 for 34 approved Covid-19 Community Isolation Benefit Package (CCIBP) claims in Cebu.
Dina Cinchez, PhilHealth 7 public relations officer, said that as of Feb. 11, 2021, PhilHealth 7 received 845 CCIBP claims in the region.
A total of 800 claims were from Community Isolation Units (CIUs), or Department of Health (DOH)-certified public or private non-hospital facilities that serve as quarantine facilities for coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) patients in Cebu.
Cinchez said 221 claims were returned because of lack of documentary requirements, while 58 were denied. The rest are being processed.
The CCIBP of the state health insurer replaced its Hospital Isolation Package on May 11, 2020. ....

ISOLATION centers for those with Covid-19 serve a purpose in controlling the spread of the virus and preventing hospitals and medical staff from getting overwhelmed by a rise in the number of patients.
Department of Health (DOH) numbers have shown that about 80 percent of those who have the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) have either mild symptoms or none at all. They do not need to be hospitalized but some may not be able to isolate themselves at home, putting household members at risk of infection.
The World Health Organization (WHO) early on during the pandemic pushed for governments to set up isolation shelters or community isolation centers for those with Covid-19 but who are not at increased risk for severe disease. ....

ALL of Cebu City s quarantine facilities, including those in the barangays, are again ready to accept Covid-19 patients following a rise in cases this month.
On Friday, January 22, 2021, the Cebu City Quarantine Center (CCQC) resumed operations after a few months of temporary closure.
The CCQC was earlier ordered closed by Mayor Edgardo Labella to allow the facility s expansion to become an extension of the Cebu City Medical Center (CCMC). ....

Cebu City Police Office records first coronavirus case since August

A POLICE officer who was assigned at the Basilica del Sto. Niño in downtown Cebu City has tested positive for the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).
City Councilor Joel Garganera, deputy chief implementer of the city’s Emergency Operations Center (EOC), said the result came out on Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2021, a day after she was swabbed.
Garganera said the police officer was experiencing symptoms of the disease, which prompted her to undergo the test at the Regional Health Services 7.
In a press conference, Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) Director Col. Josefino Ligan said contact tracers are still trying to determine where the police officer contracted the disease, considering that devotees had already been barred from entering the basilica when her symptoms manifested. ....
