Shaming, blaming and vigilante justice is not going to get us out of this third wave
Viruses love when communities aren't working together.
Pandemics, as you may know, are ancient. And the ways we respond to them today are often still based on the ancient methods: quarantine, self isolation and physical distancing.
In biblical times, the character Leviticus said “You remain unclean as long as you have the disease, and you must live outside the camp, away from others.” Interpreted one way, it lines up with current public health recommendations. Interpreted another way, it’s playing out on Halifax’s community Facebook groups, in the comment section on Instagram, in replies to tweets and on r/halifax.

The Nova Scotia legislature began its first full sitting since the onset of the pandemic with a throne speech Tuesday that pledged a COVID-19 recovery review to ensure government programs meet public needs.
The speech mapping out the Liberal government’s plans was the first under Premier Iain Rankin, who won the party leadership during a virtual convention last month.

New federal guidelines on increasing the interval between vaccine doses should permit all Nova Scotians who want a COVID-19 vaccine to get one shot by the end of June, Premier Iain Rankin said Thursday.
The new recommendations by the national panel of vaccine experts mean the province can stop holding back half its vaccine supply as booster shots and instead vaccinate more people with a single dose, Rankin said.
