The U.S. national team has fought for years to raise the level of women’s soccer across the globe, but that doesn't make its inevitable losses to teams it once dominated any easier. The loss was only the second time Mexico has beaten the U.S. The only other Mexico victory in the 43-game series was in 2010, a 2-1 win at a World Cup qualifying match in Cancun.

Fourteen Tigers Named to All-ACC Academic Team

CLEMSON, S.C. – Following their success in the classroom, 14 Tigers have been named to the All-ACC Academic Team for women’s soccer as announced by the conference office on Wednesday.  With 14 honorees, this marks the second-highest amount in program history. Last season, Clemson set a new program-record with 15.  Minimum academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0-grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one’s academic career. The athletic requirement for student-athletes is to have played in at least 50 percent of competition. Megan Bornkamp, Hal Hershfelt and Caroline Conti all picked up their fourth All-ACC Academic honor as Clemson was the only school in the conference to have three athletes earn the honor for the fourth time in their career. Bornkamp and Conti were also named to the 2023 Academic All-District list.  Renee Lyles earned her third All-ACC Academic Honor, while freshman’s Dani Davis and Jenna Tobia secured their first-career honors. Seven Tigers earned their second-career academic honors for Clemson.  Others named to the list were Emily Brough, Mackenzie Duff, Halle Mackiewicz, Sami Meredith, Sydney Minarik, Layne St. George, Emma Wennar and Harper White.
