Can rapid COVID-19 testing re-open music venues? l Alternative Press

Despite these cancelations and postponements, the industry may find some hope of bringing back live music with rapid COVID-19 tests. On Monday, Prime Minister Boris Johnson said “rapid” lateral flow tests could be used by “those parts of the economy” that couldn’t reopen their doors in the U.K. last year.
These lateral flow tests are able to provide results within half an hour. So, these tests could potentially allow music fans and event-goers to get a faster results and return to venues safely.
Now, the Music Venue Trust has officially backed Johnson. MVT CEO
Mark Davyd said that the organization is all for the rapid testing system and is waiting for it to be rolled out.

Epicenter & Sonic Temple 2021 are canceled l Alternative Press

Due to the
COVID-19 crisis, most festivals were pushed back to 2021. However, with the United States still facing a lot of cases, promoter Danny Wimmer Presents has made the tough decision to cancel both Epicenter and Sonic Temple this year. Both of these events were also canceled in 2020.
Danny Wimmer Presents promises that Epicenter and Sonic Temple will be back “bigger than ever” in 2022. However, Aftershock, Welcome To Rockville, Inkcarceration and Louder Than Life are still scheduled to happen this year.
“Taking our festivals down last year was one of the most painful experiences our company has ever lived through,” Danny Wimmer says. “And it wasn’t just painful for us, it was hard on the bands, fans, partners, cities and vendors. It has become clear to us that we will not be able to have our festivals this spring, and for a variety of reasons, it is not possible to produce all of our annual festivals in the window of Fall 2021, so we made the difficult decision to only produce Aftershock, Welcome To Rockville and Louder Than Life this year. These are our longest-running and most geographically diverse festivals. Focusing on these three events, along with Inkcarceration Festival at the end of July gives as many fans as possible, from all over the country, the chance to rock again.”
