Netizens have reacted to the alleged detention of Barrister Julius Abure, the National Chairman of the Labour Party (LP), by the Edo state police command.
According to available information, Abure was arrested on Wednesday in a show of force by policemen publicly.
The Labour Party’s national youth leader, Comrade Eragbe Anselm has accused the party’s national chairman, Julius Abure of using over 60 armed thugs to attack him when he was leading a party activity in Edo State on December 28, 2023. This was seen in a copy of the petition written by Anselm to the Nigeria Police which led to the arrest of Abure on Wednesday.

The Nigeria Police Force has confirmed the arrest of the Labour Party’s National Chairman, Julius Abure, along with four others. Tijani Momoh, the spokesperson for the Nigeria Police Force, Zone 5, covering Edo and Delta states, said Abure and the others were arrested for attempted murder, illegal possession of firearms, and other related offences.
