Special Report With Bret Baier

approaches these polls with different meth thodz theologies, online surveys tend to skew a little bit more in democrats' favors than traditional phone surveys. we have still come up, as of october, the very end of last month with d plus 2 for the generic congressional ballot. now, you have to weight that against where we have been trending for several months. just last month in september we were looking at d plus 5. that is tightening and tightening as more people make up their mind as enter the final days of the midterm. in addition to that you also have to look at g.o.p. vs. democrat enthusiasm and the g.o.p. republican voters have maintained their edge for 12 months with people being more enthusiastic and likely to vote when push comes to shove and that matters. >> bret: yeah. chris, what do you think? >> yeah. there is no doubt that there has been a shift in the generic ballot towards republicans. i wouldn't characterize it as huge.

my district. and also we did have phone surveys. and what we heard and what we saw was that people really want to know and get to the truth of what happened here. and the 25th amendment was certainly something that is important to discuss. things were unraveling so grievously in this white house, that of course there had to be conversations around invoking the 25th amendment. sadly, we saw secretary sabina resign within minutes of the january 6th attack, just quietly leaving rather than doing their duty. coming together to say is this actually what is required at this moment? but again, we will wait for january six committee and other investigations, to reveal the truth of that. but think of how far we have come, looking at these films of january the 6th, how -- would a spiral down this corrupt president took us.

football. we can't even talk football at this table. >> that's true. you are worried that 10,000 smart phones are being tracked by location. >> who is doing the tracking? >> santa. >> this is an outrage. >> if it's a private company, i think it's an interesting way of doing it. we know from the presidential election phone surveys are not that reliable. thanksgiving drags on and on and on. that's an all-day event and the most anxiety provoking holiday of the year. every other holiday is centered around materialism or sugar. easter also. you get a pass there. it's usually a sunday morning brunch. thanksgiving knows no religion. you could spend all day with your family. if you have a democratic family, you don't want to spend so much

them about autism. and it's a phone survey versus an actual medical record. now, those can be good studies, but, again, very difference -- little like comparing apples to oranges here. >> can you expect accuracy from a survey conducted over the phone? >> you know, you can get pretty good accuracy. but i looked at the study pretty carefully. and what you find is that with this particular survey, only about 23 to 25% of parents responded. now, if you think about that -- parents are more likely to respond are parents who are probably more interested in auti autism, in part because they are more likely to have a child with autism. so it does bias it a little bit here is what i'm saying. also, you know, the best way to actually tell and get a accurate reading of how many children there are with autism in this country is to directly observe the children. none of the surveys have done that. one looked at medical records, the other one relied on phone

actually tell and get a accurate reading of how many children there are with autism in this country is to directly observe the children. none of the surveys have done that. one looked at medical records, the other one relied on phone surveys. so neither one of them are perfect here, anderson. >> so are the number of autism cases really going up? >> well, you know, i think that they have probably certainly gone up over a 10, 15, 20-year period. but i think with regard to the most recent data, talk about 2012 to 2013 now, i don't think it's gone up from 1 in 88 children to 1 in 50 children. i do think this reflects a greater awareness. but when we looked at the study more specifically, there were three groups where the numbers seemed to increase more than you would expect, even with awareness. one was in just milder cases of autism. so there's a whole autism spectrum. but the mild cases, the concern is they may be getting missed, and they may be getting missed until they become older children. that was a sort of second group. so children getting diagnosed
