From her Washington hotel on Jan. 6, Katheryn Cagle asked for prayers and assured friends and family via Facebook that she and her mother were safe. "Yes, Mama and I are in Washington, D.C.," Cagle allegedly posted the day a mob stormed the U.S. Capitol.
Cagle's followers reacted with thumbs-up and heart emoji, but not everyone was feeling the love.
"I thought Kate Cagle [was] on the planning committee, I hope she doesn't plan to make a career out of planning riots," Rayven Goolsby later wrote on Facebook. In a separate post, she addressed Cagle's mother, Thelma Cagle. "Didn't you attend the insurrection? I am pretty sure you did."

A Georgia family has filed a lawsuit against a grocery store worker for defamation and libel over social media posts that accused them of planning and participating in the Jan. 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol.
The lawsuit, filed by Kathryn, Thelma and William Cagle, alleges that Rayven Goolsby “disparaged and defamed” the family through online harassment. The family members accuse her of damaging their reputations and associating them with criminal conduct, The Washington Post reported.
According to the Post, Kathryn Cagle took to Facebook on Jan. 6 to ask for prayers for herself and her mother, Thelma Cagle, writing, “Yes, Mama and I are in Washington, D.C."

RV Resort Parked by Planning Commission - Pickens

RV Resort Parked by Planning CommissionNews
December 14, 2020
, by Lisa Bastian
A proposed Resort Vehicle park was denied zoning today by The Pickens County Planning Commission. Mr. Garry Fegely of Highway 136 Connector, Talking Rock requested a Conditional Use zoning change for his 25.75-acre tract.
The land is presently zoned agriculture. The proposal presented included an RV Resort park for temporary use for those wishing to visit the Pickens County area. It entailed 55 RV lots with a 4500 square foot commons activity barn  area for private parties including weddings and special events.
The proposed site was intended for seasonal use only. With vacancy for 9-10 months out of the year. Mr. Fegely appealed to the council by stating that there was no other RV resort around this area and his intention was to provide vacationers and visitors a place to park while enjoying the local scenery and Carters Lake. He went on to explain that he himself had a boat at Carters Lake that he and his family enjoyed.
