Plainview Elementary will open in August with an estimated 396 students living in the southeast part of the county in a zone with room for growth, school officials decided Tuesday. Prior to the unanimous vote, the Rutherford County Board of Education did hear from two Barfield Elementary mothers in the Stevens Bend subdivision who wanted to keep their children at their current school instead of sending them to Plainview Elementary.
